Internal reporting of hate incidents and hate crime

By November 27, 2017News & Blog, Uncategorized

Hi All

Following on from the work of the BME Staff Group the Council now has a form that has been adapted where we are able to report workplace   hate crimes/ incidents or discriminatory comments. Please encourage colleagues to record these incidents so that we can gain an accurate overview of workplace issues and plan to address them accordingly.

hate incident is any incident which the victim, or anyone else, thinks is based on someone’s prejudice towards them because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or because they are transgender.

If you, or anyone you know, has been called names, been bullied or had anything happen to them that you think may be because of one of these factors, then you should report this as a hate incident.

Crimes committed against someone because of their disability, gender-identity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation are hate crimes and should be reported to the police.

This is now on the incident reporting form:  https://yourzone.salford.gov.uk/knowledge-zone/how-we-do-things/health-and-safety/browse-by-topic/accidents-and-incidents/
