May 17th is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (otherwise known as IDAHOBIT)
The aim of IDAHOBIT is to raise awareness of violence, discrimination, and repression of LGBT communities worldwide, which in turn provides an opportunity to take action and engage in dialogue with the media, policymakers, public opinion, and wider civil society.

Locally, the LGBT Foundation has announced a packed programme of selfies, pop-ups, culture and cabaret planned to mark this major date in the LGBT Calendar. Alongside the day-long programme, the LGBT Foundation are asking you to add your voice to our call for the every LGBT person to have right to express their sexuality and gender how they wish by joining a “Thunderclap” and signing up to an online pledge which will launch that day.
UNISON are supporting that pledge.
