The information below was sent to all our members in schools on Wednesday 10th June 2020.
Schools Update
We are pleased to inform you that following the decisions taken by UNISON members who have refused to enter unsafe workplaces, our representations to the Council and the work of supportive local politicians, the attached letter (at the bottom of this page) has been today been sent to all Head Teachers in Salford.
There is now an expectation that Head Teachers will revise risk assessments in accordance with the latest information, especially if they have already extended opening beyond vulnerable children and the children of key workers.
We will only be assured that schools are safe once this process has been completed and the revised risk assessments tell us that it is safe. It is in everyone’s interests for this to happen as soon as possible and we expect the revised risk assessments to be shared with us as evidence.
In the meantime, if you do not feel that it is safe in your school, we would encourage you to contact the Branch Office, where we can look to provide the support you need. This can be on 0161 794 7425 or by emailing diane.ogg@salfordcityunison.org.uk.
Thank you again for your ongoing engagement and the work you do.
