Following UNISON’s lobbying efforts over the past month, we are pleased to inform Salford care workers, that we have today received the following confirmation:
The Council and the NHS will make money available to care providers, to ensure that any care worker who has had to take time off work to care for others (inc. children) who have been affected by COVID-19, will not see a reduction in their normal pay.
This is in addition to the support currently provided through “The Salford Offer”, which we negotiated last year.
Important: This support is currently in place until March 31st and is backdated to 1st January 2021 – so if you have been off work, using the below examples, you can ask your employer to put a claim in via the usual route. Claims for January must be submitted by 19th February, so if this applies to you please act fast.
If any UNISON members have any issues with this, please contact Local Organiser Matthew Dickinson directly at office@salfordcityunison.org.uk or on 0161 794 7425.
We will be contacting members shortly about our efforts to secure a further pay rise for all care workers from 1st April.
